Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

I have just received an e-mail from the events co-ordinator for this convention which will take place between 27-29 August in Maryland USA. All information can be found at the conventions website : http://www.midatlanticnostalgiaconvention.com/

Lee Meriwether who played Catwoman in the 1966 Batman Movie will be at the convention. Lee is also famous for her roles in Star Trek and The Time Tunnel. Also Bob Hastings who played as Major Beasley in the “Penguin Sets A Trend” episode of Batman will be attending. Bob also has done voiceovers for Batman cartoons, he is the voice of Commissioner Gordon in Batman TAS (1992-94) and also for the film Sub Zero (1998). I have been told that he has not been at a convention for a decade so if your a fan I suggest going.

This convention is a charity event in which all proceeds benefit the St. Jude Childrens Hospital.

Batman Rhapsody

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

Back in 2004 massive batfan Scott Sebring (batfriend.com) created his own version of the classic 1975 Queen hit single “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Scott named his version the “Batman Rhapsody”. This song tells the story about the legal issues/problems surrounding the release of the Batman television series onto DVD. I have been listening to it since 2004 but strangely have not yet mentioned it on my website before, download and listen to the song by clicking either of the links below:

Batman Rhapsody (High Quality)

Batman Rhapsody (Low Quality)

Both download from batfriend.com

The lyrics:

Is this a franchise?
Split up in properties
Caught up in copyrights
All strung up in legalities
Too many sides
Just wanting a piece of me
I’m just a Batman
I aired on ABC
With one hundred and twenty shows
Action packed episodes
Anyway my cape blows
Everybody wants to see me
On DVD

Batman, was a TV show
Back in 1966
Greenway Productions produced it
Twentieth Century Fox
Had the TV rights
But home video
has never seen the light of day

‘Cause Warner Brothers
They own the character
The comics, the names
The movies and the video games
And the don’t even act
As if the series even mattered

Two sides, who own more than half
Neither one wanting to budge
Other people are asking too much
But in the end
It’s the fans who pay
But this Batman will never fade away

Warners and Fox too
Don’t the fans deserve more?
The should be able to find me
In their local video store?

I can make a little sillhouetto of a bat
Adam West, Adam West
Will you do the Batusi?
Adam West and Burt Ward
Give us a commentary

To the Batcave (To the Batcave)
To the Batcave  (To the Batcave)
To the Batcave we must go
Down the Batpoles

I’m George Clooney
And nobody liked me
He’s George Clooney
But still got a DVD
With nipples on his armor
And an Arnold Mister Freeze

Batmans come, Batmans go
Just release my show
(More lawyers)
NO!!
We will not let you go
(Let him go!)
(More lawyers)
We will not let you go
(Let him go!)
(More lawyers)
Will not let you go(Let me go!)
Will not let you go(Let me go!)
Will not let you go
(Never, never, never let me go)
NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

Warner Brothers, Warner Brothers
Warner Brothers let me go
Julie Newmar as Catwoman
Not Berry, Berry
BERRY!!!!!!!!!!!

“Has Batman met his final challenge?”
“Does Warner Brothers plan to
Leave him on the shelf to die?”
“Oooooh, evil times are these”
“Be sure to tune in”
“Same bat time”
Same Bat channel”

The series really mattered
Anyone can see
People really like me
People want to buy my DVD

Anyway my cape blows…

DC Comics Vs Johnny Resin

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Today DC Comics has sued Johnny Stacks from Florida, accusing him of copyright fraud by making then selling unauthorized figurine kits (pictured above) based on the 1960s Batman television series.

You may have seen his website, it has been featured within my links pages for a few years now at http://www.johnnysresin.com/ which has now been closed down leaving this message; ““THIS SITE IS CLOSED AND NO LONGER PRODUCES ANY RESIN KITS OR ANY OTHER ITEMS!”.

Mr Stacks claims he has agreements with the actors/actresses who appear in the figurines. But DC Comics claims to be annoyed with the statement on his website which read “All images on this site are resin kits built by John Stacks . Not DC Characters.” Which infact they are DC charcters also DC claims that they have asked several times previously for Mr Stacks to stop selling his figurines. And accuses him on cutting into lucrative profits.

Mr Stacks has issued this statement reguarding the lawsuit; “”I don’t have the money to fight this, so I don’t know where I’m going to go with it”.
